How do you experience the world around you? Ann Hince believes that we are powerful beings capable of much more than what we think. Her experience proves we can heal ourselves and the world by going within our body to feel our “feels.”
“The more trauma we experience in life, the more capacity we have for spiritual growth,” states Ann.
And unfortunately, Ann is not a stranger to trauma.
Ann was born with her right shin dislocated up against her body. As a result, she spent the first few months of her life in intense physical therapy to correct this deformity. A deformity, she contributes to the scoliosis she endured growing up.
Shortly after being born, Ann was adopted by a family that was later torn apart by the devasting disease of alcoholism. She would often bear the brunt of her father’s late-night alcoholic rants. And at the age of 18 found her mother dead on the bathroom floor.
Fast forward 18-years and Ann, a stay-at-home-mother who seemed to have everything, found herself in an altercation with another mother, and her response was another but “normal!”
“I just couldn’t let it go. I couldn’t sleep. I just knew this wasn’t normal!” stated Ann.
Something with this altercation struck Ann as different, and she knew she needed help. She went to her doctor, who introduced her to EFT—Emotional Freedom Techniques.
EFT is a contemporary form of energy psychology known as “emotional acupressure.” By gently tapping your fingers on pressure points or energy meridians, you lower cortisol levels and quickly release negative emotions and beliefs at the root of emotional and physical pain.
For the first time, Ann realized she had never processed any of her trauma. Although she appeared to have it all together, she stuffed her feelings inside, and like a pressure cooker, the emotions eventually had to be released. Doing EFT for an hour every day made the old traumas clear away, and new positive feelings emerged.
Over time Ann could feel something shift within her, and she began to feel lighter. For her, this was the first step on her journey to enlightenment. Eventually, she realized that she could actually “feel” the physical sensations underneath her awareness if she went inside her body. She moved into feeling her feelings. She would talk to the sensations. Accept the tension. Feel it until the feelings dissolve.
Ann noticed that when she did this with her feelings about world events, things in her outside world shifted. She would put her awareness on the inside of her body, fully accept the tension or feelings about the event, and then let it go. She concluded that when we bring light to the darkness within us, we shift ourselves into a lighter vibration.
As we let go of tension, we physically change. Emotionally we change—we become lighter, and life becomes more fun! Ann believes that our soul resides in our connective tissue. The tension we experience because of trauma prevents us from tuning into Spirit. When we let go of the tension, it becomes easier to tune into Spirit.
Ann had physically changed the makeup of her bones by working on releasing the tension in her body. The scans below show the skeleton before starting EFT and this emotional release therapy. You can visibly see the shift in her body. She no longer has scoliosis, and she says she feels physically, emotionally, and spiritually lighter. And she has the pictures to prove it!
