Indra Rinzler has been studying spirituality for over 50-years and is experienced in Vedic Astrology and the Enneagram of Personality. Before my interview with Indra, I was a novice about the Enneagram. But after our conversation, I became highly fascinated by it, reading everything I could find on the subject.
Nine personality types are stereotypical behaviors, but the Enneagram is about our motivations or the why behind what we do. We all may exhibit the same behaviors, but the why behind them may be different, and those motivations are what delineate the nine different types. And we all usually have a dominant type. My personality type is Number Two—the Helper.
I’ve always been interested in how our minds work and the why behind our actions. We can use the Enneagram to aid our inner growth and awareness of ourselves.
Indra states, “When we understand the one (the personality type) at our core, we can let go of the stories—the obsessions and compulsions that are patterned and programmed within us. Once we let it go, we can then live on the high side of the personality.”
How do we let go of the stories? We do it by being aware of the feelings around the story and then allowing those feelings to arise within us. Then Indra says the next step is to let the story’s emotions stay with us. And as we let those feelings run their course, we focus on the energy behind them while ignoring all thoughts surrounding the feelings. Indra calls this process the Four Doors of Conscious Living.
In 1999 Indra began traveling worldwide, buying handmade items for his business. His travels took him to many holy places and allowed him to sit with many awakened teachers. He was introduced to the Enneagram and astrology and began an in-depth study into these modalities. He spent years traveling, studying, and sharing everything he learned and experienced.
During my brief conversation with Indra, he shared some of his dynamic experiences. One extraordinary story he shares takes place in New Zealand—A Million Shades of Green, on a bench overlooking the ocean. It’s all about perfection on earth—everything is complete with nothing missing.
Indra is now retired and lives in the United States close to his grandchildren. But he still loves to help share the wisdom and insight he receives. For those interested in knowing your Enneagram Personality number or receiving a free copy of your Vedic Chart, you can email Indra at firstname.lastname@example.org. He will need your date, time, and place of birth to pull your information.
